The Global Plate: An Exploration

Ever wondered what is the impact of our food consumption choices? From production to transportation and disposal, our choices have an impact. Knowing how and where your food is produced can reduce environmental issues like resource depletion, air quality degradation and wildlife loss all around the globe.


From April 22 to 26, visitors to our Compass learned about the environmental issues related to our daily food choices and how to reduce our footprint through simply actions. Participants had an opportunity to test their knowledge with a short online quiz for a chance to win prizes such as a cooking class for two at Dish Cooking Studio, a $100 gift certificate to Planta and a $50 gift card to Cafe Belong. 

Winners will be contacted individually and posted on this page by May 3, 2019. 

diet & planet Lunch & Learn Event


Thank you to everyone who joined us for an engaging presentation and discussion about the carbon footprint of our diet with nutritionist Brent Lockridge. The presentation included an overview of the environmental footprint of common food items and provided participants with tips on how to make healthier and more sustainable choices.

The event took place on Thursday, April 25 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Concourse Lounge.
